Codeco Containers specializes in new shipping container home construction and additions to preexisting structures. While repurposing shipping containers has been widely accepted worldwide for quite some time, recently container homes have experienced a surge of interest by many because of its large advantages.

Some of the biggest advantages are cost and ease of build. Containers can be pre fabricated in such a way where build time can be greatly reduced, thus costing much less than a traditional concrete home.

Another excellent advantage over concrete homes is that the structure allows some flex when it comes to hurricanes, which prevent the structure from major damage. The steel can flex in a way where the structure is not compromised, unlike concrete, where it can be eroded or actually cracked under heavy stress.

One issue we hear about a lot is the issue of rust. While steel can fall victim to rust, we normally use new containers for home builds which have not been damaged in any way for water to actually penetrate to the steel. Additionally, most of the time we include exterior cladding with a vapor barrier to prevent any water ever touching the steel, which will never rust the structure and require no maintenance.

Containers homes have a big advantage over traditional concrete structures in many ways, making them a smarter choice for your new home build.
